OpenAdvo helps people to easily apply for social benefits digitally - inclusively, comprehensibly and efficiently.

AI Simplifies Access to Social Benefits

Many people do not apply for social benefits even though they are entitled to them - due to bureaucracy, language barriers or a lack of information. With an AI-based chatbot, we are creating simple, low-barrier access and relieving the burden on the authorities at the same time.

OpenAdvo is developing an AI-based solution for digital applications in the social sector. Dialog-oriented user guidance, multilingualism and interfaces to administrative systems create an inclusive and efficient solution for citizens and authorities. The aim is to sustainably reduce the burden on the system and promote social participation.

How did you get together as a team?

We got to know each other through our shared interest in technology, society and impact - through projects, hackathons and in the university environment. The collaboration came about organically through shared values and goals.

How did you come up with your idea?

The idea was born out of personal concern in our environment, coupled with an awareness of the digital divide in Germany. We see enormous potential for improvement through technology, particularly in the area of social benefits.

What are you studying/working or what have you studied?

Franz: Industrial engineering (HTL), currently studying physics in Cologne.

Tim: Physics student, certified project manager.

Simon: Psychology student with a focus on market and advertising psychology as well as organizational development.

Leo: Bachelor's degree in physics at the University of Hamburg, currently studying for a Master's degree in physics at the University of Tübingen.

Julius: studies computer science in the Master's program with a focus on artificial intelligence

Felix: studies law (shortly before the first state examination) and has a Master of International Law

How has Gateway helped you?

The Gateway offered us valuable support from the very beginning - both professionally and personally. The individual coaching sessions, workshops and access to experts in the fields of start-ups, law and financing were particularly helpful. The opportunity to further develop our idea within a structured framework and receive regular feedback has also helped our start-up enormously.

We also appreciate the community spirit: the exchange with other start-ups and the atmosphere in which ideas are allowed to grow are a real added value for us. We would recommend the Gateway to anyone who not only wants to build a start-up, but also achieve a lasting impact.
